Oktoberfest is often associated with beer, but the festival’s traditions go beyond that. While the beer tents, of course, provide drinks, they also play only traditional Bavarian music. The original six Munich breweries still provide the beer. You can also catch people in traditional Bavarian clothing, dirndls and lederhosen.
Day 4-8
Filzmoos, Salzburg
Authentic mountain village with alpine footpaths and rustic huts in Salzburg
Things to do:
- Hike to Rötelstein Peak, f r o m H o f p ü r g l H u t t o Sulzenalm and from Bachlalm to Neustattalm.
- Spend the night in one of those classy Alpine Huts
- Visit The Liechtenstein Gorge
- Drive Austria's most scenic Panorama Road at Gerlos.

range of the Dachstein, Filzmoos is an
excellent base for a quiet hiking trip in autumn.
The surrounding hillsides are covered in
larches, which turn vibrant shades of gold

Grossglockner High Alpine Road
Austria’s most beautiful mountain pass.
Things to do:
The twelve most dazzling kilometres are between Krimml and the pass summit. The road blends in seamlessly with the alpine landscape and becomes a part of it.

Grossglockner High Alpine Road in the Eastern Alps is one of Austrias top attractions and an absolute must do for road trippers. On top of the spectacular drive you park your car at the famous Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, where your driving adventure is about to get even more interesting. The wide Pasterze glacier is stretched out in front of you and you can observe marmots and other wildlife animals.
Ramsau am Dachstein, Styria
Ramsau is situated at the foot of the southern Dachstein mountains. The slopes beneath the Dachstein rock face are strewn with larch trees. In mid-late October, these larch trees turn golden.
Things to do:
- Walk along the maple-lined “Panoramaweg” to soak in the pastoral charm of Ramsau. This path cuts across pastures, farms, and forest on both sides of the “Hauptstrasse” ( M a i n Road).

The individual waterfalls are connected by a 4-kilometre long paved path, which is also passable by strollers. There are 11 stops from which you can see the waterfalls up close. You will gradually climb from an altitude of 1,070 m to 1,450 m – the higher you go, the more people will be left behind. You will reach the top of a beautiful valley with a restaurant, where only a handful of visitors go.
